IN STEREO
I think all these items are part of the character of this city, maybe. Some of them are new, some of them are old, some of them are destroyed, I don’t know. I think these items are part of the character of the situation, of the old situation and the modern situation, and this time. So yeah, we can use them to tell a story. Because actually, every place, anywhere we go, we catch stories. I think part of art is to tell what we feel and express ourselves. In the end, we try to say something. Because real art is trying to find the solution for really miserable situations. But It’s not trying to make the situation beautiful – because you can’t. That’s not art for me. Because art makes you think. It’s not just a picture you put in your bedroom, in your living room, even in your bathroom. No. Art has a ‘beyond’.
There is the [obvious] art that shows you everything, and there is the hidden one, where you catch the feeling. There are a lot of stories that have been told. So the part for you, or me, or anyone, is to tell it in a really new way. Your point of view is totally different than mine, so when you do the same theme, it will be totally different. Because no one will catch the point of view until they see your work. No one will know my point of view until they see my work. We can talk all day long, but the real thing, the real story, is shown. That’s why we took this path. This is your own experience, and you don’t show it by talking. I think the best thing about this path is to show people. Because you catch feelings, and you want to show it. You catch the story. That’s why seeing is believing, in a way. – Ibrahim H.
