We need some changes. We should start by changing ourselves, before we start changing the whole world. Which is, I think, never going to happen. What needs to be done? Change the whole system. Give a chance to the younger generation to do it right. We’re talking about people [in their] 40s [and] 50s, who know what’s going on. I mean the people who suffered and lived down here, who lived the First Intifada, and the second one. As long as there is the older generation, I don’t see any changes. Because most who came back from Lebanon, from Tunis, from just about all over the world, they don’t care about the land. They don’t care about you. They don’t care about me. All they care about is filling their pockets with money. They just came down here to rob us, not to develop the area or take care of the people who live here. Let’s be honest about it!

All of them are corrupt. We feel sorry about it, but as I said, [there’s] nothing we can do about it. We don’t have the will, and we’re more scared of getting beat up or killed by the Authority. But we definitely need the changes. [And] we’re definitely going to need some help. I mean, for me as a person, I wouldn’t mind some help. But I wouldn’t put my hopes on it, OK? Because as I said, we’ve got a corrupt system, and corruption is going to be there all the time. So we have to take care of ourselves first. Then we’ll be able to build a country, a homeland for just about everybody, and live peacefully. But we have to get rid of the corruption that we’ve got in the Palestinian Authority – that’s the main thing. Sorry to say that, but it’s a fact. That’s the truth. But people don’t have... I’m sorry to say this, but they don’t have the courage to do it. – Jamal
